A sweet and mouthwatering combination. Try to encourage your children to help with this recipe, it is so easy and most children love squeezing lemons and mixing the marinade together.

Ingredients

  • 12 chicken drumsticks or thighs
  • 3tbsp grainy mustard
  • 3tbsp maple syrup or runny honey
  • Juice of 1 lemon
  • Freshly ground black pepper

Method

  1. Take a bowl big enough for all of the wings and mix together the mustard, honey, lemon juice and black pepper.
  2. Add the wings and mix everything together to coat the wings – ideally using your hands to do this. Cover and leave to marinade for at least 15 minutes.
  3. Preheat the oven to 200C/400F/gas mark 7.
  4. Pour the chicken and marinade into the roasting tin – don’t leave any marinade behind.
  5. Roast for 20 minutes, take out of the oven and baste the chicken and then roast for another 20 minutes. It is important to spoon the juices over the chicken so that the chicken is golden and sticky when cooked.
